Reps who supported bill deserve our thanks
I am sorely disappointed that Rep. Rob Wittman failed to support health care reform for his constituents, caving in to pressure from the insurance industry. I believe it is time for our representatives to represent citizens, rather than big corporate dollars. Representatives who did support this bill deserve the thanks of all U.S. citizens. The reality of the 2000 page bill is that there's a lot of blank
space on the pages and there are approximately the same
amount of words as there are in Sarah Palin's 400 page
book. Still, leclare is right, staffers do the real reading and
analysis of most bills while the elected representative
pontificates, kisses butts and tries to replenish his war
chest.
I doubt that one congressman read not only this bill but any other longish bill. It's the aides and others who work for the congressmen who do the reading and provide the synospses and advice, so that the more photogenic and less bright congressman can get before the cameras and posture and pontificate. Congressmen must be on the phone raising money and must attend all sorts of parties, have luncheons, etc., to do mundane things like reading bills over 1 page.
Did they read it? I mean all 2,000 pages-did they READ it? I doubt it, considering how little time they were given. So what they did was obey Nancy Pelosi and trust what they were told. That's not what we send these jokers to Congress for and I for one am glad Mr. Wittman voted against it. From what we do know, it won't help everyone and it will be expensive. The fact that it was rushed through makes it even more suspicious.
The CBO has already stated that the Govt will NOT be able to offer any plan cheaper than what the private sector is offering them for. So how is it that a public option is going to make things more affordable for everyone ??? Is this one of those 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4 things ???
have a purpose...
