Paul W. Aaron
Paul Wilson Aaron, 86, of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh, N.C., with his daughter by his side. Paul was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Callands to Noel and Nellie Aaron. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as an aerial engineer. He then went on to work for Stone & Webster Engineering on the construction of numerous power plants around the country, until his retirement. During his career, Paul enjoyed living in Virginia, Louisiana, Nevada and upstate New York and made friends easily wherever he made his home. He and his wife, Ellen, retired to Fredericksburg in 1985. Ellen predeceased Paul in 2002. Paul will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and generosity towards every one he met. He loved and cared for all animals along his path as well. He had an insatiable curiosity in science and all things mechanical, especially aircraft and automobiles. Above all, he will be remembered for his beautiful, electric-like smile and wonderful sense of humor, bringing joy to everyone around him. His generosity continued even in death, Paul donated his body to the Duke Anatomical Program for medical research. There will be no formal memorial service at this time; a service will be held in the spring at Duke Chapel in Durham, N.C., the date to be determined. He is survived by his daughter, Marty Aaron and her fiance, Bob George, of Raleigh; his sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Richard Schirle of Laguna Beach, Calif.; three nephews, Mark, Robert and David Schirle of California; and brother-in-law Ronnie Hooe of Stafford County. In honor of Paul, please consider doing one small, kind deed for someone in need. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA, your local animal shelter, or Hospice of Wake County, North Carolina, will be appreciated.
