Retired Lt. Col. Frank G Albright II, 52, of Fredericksburg was unexpectedly taken home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009.
Frank's ability to understand, forgive and loyally serve his family had a deep impact on their lives. His legacy of love and compassion is one that his wife and children will never forget. In ways we will never fully know or understand in this world, he inspired them to live out the Godly principles that he so firmly held to.
Frank graduated from Cassopolis High School in Cassopolis, Mich., in 1975. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Indiana University in 1979, and a Master of Arts degree in Crime in Commerce from George Washington University in 1988.
In September of 1979, Frank was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force and became a special agent, working for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations until April of 2000, when he retired as a lieutenant colonel.
Upon retiring from the Air Force, Frank took a job with the Department of Defense. Frank worked for the Inspector General's Office in Arlington as the Director of Investigative Policy and Programs until his death.
Besides loving and caring for his family, two of Frank's greatest passions were water skiing and playing his Martin guitar. He enjoyed sharing these passions with others, especially during the Albright family's annual trip to the Wisconsin Northwoods.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carol Albright; and his children, Eric Albright, Jackie Albright-Dickerson and her husband, Eddie Dickerson, Stephanie Portch, who joined the family in 2003, Steven Albright, Christopher Albright, Richard Albright II and Aaron Albright.
In addition to his wife and children, Frank will be greatly missed by his parents, who loved him more than words can say. He is survived by his father, Richard Albright and his wife, Viola Albright; his brother, John Albright; and his mother, Patricia Einfalt and her husband, Ronald Einfalt; as well as numerous extended family members who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Frank will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. He had a great down-to-earth sense of humor that all enjoyed, and he was a committed husband, father, friend and co-worker. He enriched the lives of all who knew him, providing a Christ-like example. We love you! We will miss you!
A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Grace Church of Fredericksburg with Pastor Kenneth Delage officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Vision, 888/511-6519, in reference to the Frank Albright Memorial.
