David W. Pitts

David William Pitts, 70, of Spotsylvania County died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Pitts served in the National Guard. He had worked for civil service at Fort Belvoir for the past 39 years and was currently a construction inspector.

Mr. Pitts was a member of Round Oak Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Cook Mills Hunt Club and an avid bowler.

Survivors include his wife, Terrie Pitts; four children, Michael Pitts of Spotsylvania, Karen Pitts Samuels and her husband, R.D., of Spotsylvania, Cathy Davis and her husband, Stephen, of West Virginia, and Jeffrey Pitts of Spotsylvania; three stepsons, Paul Shifflett Jr. and his wife, Betsy, of Spotsylvania, Jared Klier and his wife, April, and Frederick Klier and his companion, Samantha, all of Wyoming; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Rose Barker of Spotsylvania.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Covington officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
