I just returned from a mission trip to Lakeshore, Miss., that was organized by Fairview Baptist Church here in Fredericksburg.
Lakeshore is a coastal town devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We hardly heard about it in the media four years ago because of all the attention New Orleans received.
Most of the homes in the Lakeshore area were totally wiped off their foundations, thus the area has been called "Ground Zero."
This area is still in dire need. Many people are still living in campers and other forms of temporary housing.
Anyone who'd like to help them can visit their Web site (rebuildlakeshore.com). People in a position to get some friends together, especially those with carpentry experience, could help make a difference for the people of the Lakeshore community.
I hope that if I am ever in need, people will be willing
