Audrey V. Allen
Audrey Vernell Allen, 86, of Spotsylvania County passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Greenfields Assisted Living of Stafford. Mrs. Allen was a volunteer for the Dale City Civic Association and served on the Planning Commission. She received an award as Dale City Citizen of the Year and she was also a volunteer for the Red Cross. Mrs. Allen loved both playing and listening to music, shopping and spoiling her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland Allen; grandson Stephen Michael; and great-granddaughter, Audrey Elizabeth. Survivors include her daughters, Kitty, Joan and Betty and her husband, Kenny; a sister, Pauline Walsh of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Kim and her husband, Greg, Cathy and her husband, Eddie, and Jay and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brooke, Taylor, Dalton, Noah, Zach, Ellie, Lily Hannah and Avery. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Willis A. Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
