James J. Scordellis
James J. Scordellis, 84, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his residence. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Bess Kramer Scordellis. Mr. Scordellis worked for 37 years for the federal government and retired as a contract officer from the Department of Defense. An avid stamp and coin collector, he was a sports fan and enjoyed the Washington Redskins and the L.A. Lakers. He had been a member of the Kiwanis Club in Bowie, Md. Surviviors include his wife of 59 years, Norma K. Scordellis; three sons, Mark Scordellis and his wife, Lorraine, of Collegeville, Pa., Kerry Scordellis and his wife, Claudia, of Leesburg and Jamie Scordellis and his wife, Terry, of Fredericksburg; 11 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and one sister, Betty J. Little of Glenshaw, Pa. A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
