When did Stafford County join the Union army? Date published: 12/2/2009
The Stafford County Historical Society continues to find ways to honor the Union army and Abraham Lincoln.
The society has discovered the Valley Forge of the Union army in Stafford, commemorated a Union military unit that killed the Confederates protecting Fredericksburg from destruction, and now, in its historical exhibit in the new hospital, gives to Lincoln an amount of space equal to that given to George Washington ["Wall is museum sampler," Town & County, Nov. 21]. Any legitimate historian would call the comparison of the Valley Forge of Stafford The descendants of those Confederates killed attempting to protect Fredericksburg might find it less than tasteful to commemorate those who did the killing. Abraham Lincoln was not worthy of holding the bridle of George Washington's horse. Comparing Lincoln--who destroyed half of the country, closed more than 300 newspapers, ignored the Constitution, and locked up more than 40,000 people in the North--to George Washington, the father Considering the size of the Union army and its resources, a 16-year-old commander could have destroyed the South in four years. If the size of the army and its resources had been reversed in favor of the South, the war would have been over in 90 days, and thousands of lives would have been saved. Some might believe that the Stafford Historical Society has become the agent of the Union army and Lincoln. Can't they find anything Confederate or Southern to honor? Taking the example of the Stafford Historical Society, I would encourage Ted Humphries Stafford
When Va. acceded to the Constitution in their document they stated "do in the name and in behalf of the People of
Va. declare and make known that the powers granted under the Constitution being derived from the People of the US may be resumed by them whenever the same shall be perverted to their injury or oppression." Rhode Island and New York had the same provision in their accessions to the Constitution. No one state could be given any right unless enjoyed by all. This stipulation was accepted by all.
my middle finger.
about my political beliefs based on my post, you might sprain an ankle or something. I have about as much use for so-called Conservatives as I do Liberals. They each want control of every aspect of your life, they just come from different directions to achieve the same result. I am not a Southern apologist either. I have no need to apologize for something I had nothing to do with. What I am though is a born Southerner who is tired of Yankees pointing their self righteous finger at me and mine!
Suggest you take off those Lib glasses. The only ones doing any apologizing these days are you Libs, you apologize for everything...exept wrecking the economy, yea, we know, we heard you the first million times, "Bush". Still waiting to see how you will blame Bush for your Climategate. But I digress. It was about the Constitution...10th Amendment...(look it up yourself). The Union broke the Constitutional contract by violating the 10th. It wasn't about "slavery" til 1863 and we know how NY liked that.
I suppose you know who these dimwits are then and you have surveyed their political leanings. Good work! I am sure you had fun wearing that pointy white hat and robe while dancing around the blazing fire. Since you know so much about them..and they didn't kill you..you must be one of them...since they supposedly kill all interlopers and eat their children....
