Mother Nature may dress up holiday parades in the area today with an inch or more of snow.
The forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of snow this afternoon and evening, with a chance of 1 to 3 inches accumulation. The high today is expected to be in the upper 30s, with a low tonight in the mid 20s.
The biggest of today's events, the annual Fredericksburg Jaycees Christmas Parade, begins at 5:30 p.m. downtown. It boasts 110 entries, including Clydesdales, floats, marching bands and others, and will be capped by Santa's arrival.
Heather Howe, parade coordinator for the Jaycees, said it will go on, snow or no snow.
Spotsylvania County's Holiday Parade will step off at 2 p.m. Running from Spotsylvania Middle School to Lee Elementary School, it includes bands, floats, mules, horses and alpacas--and a visit from St. Nick.
