>> REDSKINS RUN OFFENSE VS. GIANTS DEFENSE
Without their big names, the Redskins are struggling on the ground. RB Quinton Ganther impressed last week with his patience, elusiveness and tough running style, but Washington averaged only 3.7 yards per carry against a poor Oakland run defense. The Giants' have been giving up a lot of points, but they're not getting run over--even without injured MLB Antonio Pierce.

QB Jason Campbell is in top form and could exploit a banged-up New York secondary that has struggled to prevent big plays. S Aaron Ross (hamstring) won't be at full strength if he plays and CB Corey Webster (knee) is out. The Redskins will use quick drops to stymie a Giants' defensive line that has underachieved (19th in sacks per pass play). DE Osi Umenyiora recently was demoted.

DT Albert Haynesworth's return should provide the Redskins' interior line with a huge boost against powerful RB Brandon Jacobs on a cold night. S LaRon Landry played more often at the line of scrimmage last week and excelled in run support. He'll do that some tonight, but Washington will have to play more seven-man fronts because of the Giants' stellar passing game.

New York had nothing to worry about in replacing former WR Plaxico Burress. Third-year WR Steve Smith ranks in the NFL's top 10 in receiving yards. Rookie Hakeem Nicks has as many touchdown catches (6) as all Redskins wideouts combined. Second-round rookie William Beatty will make his second career start at right tackle. CB DeAngelo Hall (knee) might return after missing three games.
