Charlottesville man dies in Louisa crash
Weather was a factor in a fatal crash yesterday morning on Interstate 64 in Louisa County that killed a Charlottesville man, according to the Virginia State Police.
Jon M. Del Vitto, Jr., 49, died at the scene of the 6:10 a.m. crash, which occurred
Del Vitto was driving a 2006 Ford Mustang. The Mustang crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate. The truck driver had stopped to assist another motorist who had just crashed. Del Vitto was wearing a seat belt, police said.
Truck driver Jesse J. Owens, Jr., 30, of Hagerstown, Md., was inside the truck at the time of the crash, and was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation, but no charges are pending. Trooper F.B. Ross, Jr., responded to the scene.

Beach man arrested on cocaine charges
Police of a multi-jurisdictional task forced arrested a 59-year-old Colonial Beach man yesterday morning on crack cocaine charges.
James Allen Powell Jr. was taken into custody at his oyster house at 63 Monroe Bay Circle near Monroe Hall, said Westmoreland County Sheriff's Maj. John Hoover.
Powell was charged with distributing cocaine and conspiring to distribute it. Additional charges are likely, Hoover said.

Caroline High student faces sexual assault, abduction charges
A Caroline High School student is facing sexual assault and abduction charges in connection to an incident that allegedly occurred at the high school.
Major C. Scott Moser of the Caroline County Sheriff's Office said a school resource officer was notified about a sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl that occurred on school grounds on Dec. 16.
Moser said the incident did not happen during school hours.
A 16-year-old male student was arraigned on those charges in Caroline's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on last Tuesday.
The juvenile suspect was taken to Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center, and the case in still under investigation, Moser said.
