Robert B. Dix Sr.
Robert B. Dix Sr., 82, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Dix resided in Lake Land'Or in Ruther Glen, and previously in Vienna, Falls Church and Dale City. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He served more than 60 years in law enforcement, including the Vienna Police Department, Magistrate of Fairfax County, and with the U. S. Marshal in Alexandria and Richmond. He served in various civic associations and organizations as well as his church work. He was the beloved husband of Jan K. Dix; father of Robert Dix Jr., Donny Dix, Kimberly Fradette-Taylor, Cyndie Sebben and the late Barbara Jean Dix; brother of Ruth Williams, the late Miriam Davis, Hubert Lutz, Ralph Snoot and Jean Cairns. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Dix. Family and friends are invited to Mr. Dix's Life Celebration at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, on Saturday, Jan. 2, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a Masonic service following. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 3, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in National Memorial Park, Falls Church. Family and friends are also invited to a celebration of Mr. Dix's life at Unity Church of Fredericksburg, 3607 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22408 on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unity Church of Fredericksburg, or the SPCA of Fredericksburg, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22408.
