Paul E. Bohrer

Paul Edward Bohrer of Colonial Beach passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. He was one of 13 children and the son of John and Ethel Bohrer of Berkley Springs, W.Va.

Paul was a hardworking, honest man, from an industrious hardworking family that owned several prosperous family- and individually-run businesses. Paul was a prominent plastering contractor of Northern Virginia who took great pride in the restoration or design of their historic and newly-constructed businesses.

He resided most of his life in Arlington and then retired in Colonial Beach in 1985. There he built a sunroom, garage addition and bulkhead, all while on crutches, with the help of his beloved wife. Paul was a veteran of World War II, having joined the Merchant Marines at 16 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Marion Raymond, who passed away in 2004, their 2 year old daughter Linda, their married son, Paul Jr. and his dear friend Margaret Welch.

He is survived by his daughter Sherri and her husband, Robert Piriak; his two grandchildren, Tammy Sandler and Chris Williges; along with six great-grandchildren, Blake, Samuel, Paige, Ellie, Naomi and Daniel Sandler.

His remains rest at the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14.
