Police have arrested a Colonial Beach woman and a Rockingham County man in a continuing investigation of drug activity in Westmoreland County.

According to Westmoreland Sheriff's Maj. John Hoover, Sally Peyton Castles, 48, of Shore Drive in the Westmoreland Shores area of Colonial Beach was arrested Tuesday by officers of the Tri-County Drug Task Force.

Castles was charged with three felony counts of possessing prescription drugs and cocaine, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possessing marijuana.

Hoover also said Jack Lane Stayner, 60, of Broadway was arrested last week and charged with two felony counts of distributing crack cocaine and a misdemeanor charge of distributing less than a half ounce of marijuana.

Hoover said Castles and Stayner were "associates" of James Allen Powell, a 59-year-old Colonial Beach man who was arrested Dec. 31 on crack cocaine charges. Powell "has played a big role in the distribution of drugs in the county," Hoover alleged at the time of the arrest.

Powell, Castles and Stayner remain in the Northern Neck Regional Jail, Hoover said.

The Tri-County Drug Task Force is composed of deputies from Caroline, King George and Westmoreland counties, as well as the Virginia State Police and other agencies. The FBI has participated in the current investigation, Hoover said.

"The investigation is continuing, and more arrests are forthcoming," Hoover said,
