Daisy P. Byrd
Daisy P. Byrd, 86, of Port Royal died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital. Ms. Byrd was the church clerk at Shiloh Baptist Church for more than 50 years. And she was a former member of the Port Royal Town Council and was the postmaster for Port Royal, serving for 19 years before retiring in 1990. She is survived by two sons, Embria Byrd Jr. and William "Bill" Byrd, both of Douglasville, Ga.; and two daughters, Florine Byrd and Patricia Byrd, both of Bowie, Md. She was preceded in death by her son Gerald Kenneth Byrd. Remains may be viewed from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, with the Rev. Gregory Nick officiating.
