Health care--America needs reform at once

Health care--America needs reform at once

The cost of health care in America has risen 118 percent in the last three years. Health care spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion, or $8,047 per person, in 2009, and is projected to nearly double by 2019.

That cost isn't being paid by those without health care. Those with health care are carrying the burden for the millions of Americans who do not have insurance.

A major part of rebuilding America will have to be health care reform. True reform cannot be accomplished with the passage of a single bill.

We must not delay taking action. We simply cannot afford to ignore the ever-spiraling decay of America's health care system.

Politicians must stop the petty bipartisan bickering and pass legislation that will begin the long road to recovery.

No one wants government-run health care, but no one wants to give up Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Affairs, or state-run health care.

I have two daughters who do not have any health care. The elder one works two part-time jobs largely because companies can skirt having to offer benefits to part-time employees.

My younger daughter is a cardiac patient from birth and will forever be considered as having a pre-existing condition. My insurer dropped her after she completed her nursing schooling, and she has been unable to find employment. We had to cancel her cardiac appointment recently.

As an American, I demand that Washington act now to start reforming health care in America.

If people aren't working and unable to pay an insurance premium (govt run or otherwise), what good will healthcare reform be? Oh, I forgot -silly me. Redistribution 101.

The reality is that they don't want (posted by ConcernedOne , Feb. 25, 2010 3:16 pm)    0 likes
the problems fixed unless THEY are the fixers. It is the control; otherwise, the problem(s) would already have been solved. They want total control over the people - say what you want but Obama and his clowns think they can take care of us better than we can. It is disgusting. There have been solutions offered to this health care problem but they do not listen, and they won't. Health care, energy, food - think about it, they are taking over everything.

So hard a Democrat Can Not Do It. (posted by kgspm , Feb. 25, 2010 1:31 pm)    0 likes
I agree. We need health care reform just not what is being proposed by the democrats now! do the following to reform health care. Let American's pick and choose what they want in their policy. Give American's the same tax advantage as companies, Allow American's who buy their insurance away from work the ability to form groups for group insurance, Stop Lawsuit abuse. There is that so hard a democrat couldn't do

Here is the reality... (posted by CougarDad540 , Feb. 25, 2010 1:26 pm)    0 likes
Bailey is among thousands of Virginians who are experiencing double-digit increases in health premiums from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The price increases are similar to the ones that President Obama and others criticized when WellPoint, Anthem's parent company, imposed them this month in California. WellPoint says its price increases are necessary because many of its healthier customers have dropped coverage or chosen cheaper plans during the economic downturn.
