Jennie C. Holmes
Mrs. Jennie C. Holmes, 78, of Appomattox, and formerly of Fredericksburg, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville. Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, she was preceded in death by her husband, David; her brother Raymond; and her great- granddaughter Skye Mercedes Roberts. Mrs. Holmes is survived by eight children: Margaret Dinkins of Saint Augustine, Fla.; Barbara Tappen of Appomattox; Kenneth Holmes and Evelyn Byies, both of Spotsylvania County; Clayton Holmes of Appomattox;, Elaine Tolson of King George County; Jeannette Davis of Chesapeake City, Md; and Darrell Holmes of Appomattox; one brother, Gene Cullins of Brownington Center, Vt.; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and devoted friend Jean Frankovich. Her remains rest at the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, where the family will receive friends Thursday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Holmes requested that memorial contributions in her name be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends may offer online condolences at mullins
