On health care, the GOP is disingenuous
The GOP campaign against health care reform is linguistically clever, but scientifically flawed. Almost every Republican opponent to health care I have heard speak says, "Polls say this is something the American people don't want." What they do not say is that the polls use propaganda and emotionally tinged terms such as "government and socialist controlled health care." Any poll that asks questions about the details of the reform find that the American people are overwhelmingly for the specifics Much is made of the size of the bill. Bills are purposely double- or triple-spaced and pages have large margins so legislators can mark them up as they study them. I would not want legislation of this magnitude to not have complexities. The opponents know Another cliche is that this is being "rammed through" without sufficient discussion. Nonsense. Republicans have had ample time to make their presentations. Their suggestions have been incorporated in the bill or lost in the give-and-take of legitimate legislative discourse. The same emotional arguments have been made before. Ronald Reagan believed Medicare was socialist and would break the bank; Ironically, the tea party advocates want the government to keep their hands off Medicare. What an oxymoron! The Republican Party is apparently being led by Sen. Jim DeMint, who makes no bones about opposition to health care reform being the best way to defeat President Obama in 2012. Any time a party uniformly opposes legislation, I will question its honesty and sincerity. It is time to pass health care and move on with the business of government. Frank B. Withrow Stafford
bill except asylum inmates," says Guderian. In 3 posts he then explains how much the bill will cost us, that it's a "bucket of rotten fish," and that it contains false information. I guess that this proves once and for all who is the asylum inmate. Hoist by his own petard!
Healthcare Insurance Company stocks closed up ANOTHER 4-5 point on avergae today. They seem to be really worried about passage of this HCCF because the bad insurance companies will be forced to lose money by pelobama care...hehe
No one disputes the health care systems needs a DESPERATE change, but if you truly think this abomination of a bill is going to make ANYTHING better I suggest you sit down and actually take time to read the bill instead of just going off of what you have heard.
If you read the gospels closely you can easily see that what Jesus was saying was "let he who hath not sinned, cast the first stone". "He" refers to a sole individual, not a groups, corporations, the Republican party or anyone who speaks on their behalf. The Supreme Court says corporations are individuals, but they are not "he's". So, Jesus believes corporations and Republicans (and those who support them to wit) are individuals, but not the ones that can sin and then throw stones. They are exempt.
fishing poles not buckets full of smelly fish. This pelobama abomination is a bucket of rotten fish from the anacostia...not the sea of galilee.
