Wittman still has fundraising lead in 1st District congressional race, but Democrat staying close Date published: 7/22/2010

Incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st District, raised slightly more money between April and July than his Democratic opponent Krystal Ball. But Ball, a certified public accountant from Stafford County who owns an educational technology firm with her husband, loaned her campaign $150,000 in that quarter. That brings the total amount she has loaned her campaign to $226,062. Wittman reported $134,348 in contributions for the quarter between April and the end of June, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission this month. Ball reported $117,349 in contributions for the same time period. The bulk of Ball's contributions--$101,949--came from individuals. Of the rest, $4,900 was an in-kind contribution from the state Democratic Party for research services, and $10,400 came from donations by two labor unions and two political committees. Ball has said she won't take money from corporate PACs, lobbyists or national Democratic leadership parties. Wittman's contributions included $82,803 from individuals and $51,545 from political action committees, primarily corporate ones. Ball spent twice as much money as Wittman did during the reporting period: $141,170, compared with the Westmoreland County Republican's $72,758. Overall for the campaign, the candidates have spent similar amounts: $530,287 for Wittman, $527,873 for Ball. Over the course of the campaign, Ball has raised a total of $562,311 in contributions, while Wittman has brought in $933,597. Wittman ended the reporting period with $519,586 cash on hand; Ball ended up with $260,735. Independent candidate Gail Parker is also running in the 1st District, although she lives in Alexandria. Parker has run for several offices in Virginia, primarily pushing for high-speed rail. No campaign finance report was Chelyen Davis: 540/368-5028
Wittman sticks with party-line votes fearing there is no money to pay for various bills. It is hypocritical to just say no to bills supporting vets, seniors, and everything US, and then let taxpayers pay for mailers sent out around election time under the guise of a public document (allowed). BTW, you will know if your tax dollars pay for a mailer from any in-office politician, because it must be stated on the mailer that it is taxpayer funded if sent out as a public doc.
Senator Javits (D-NY) and Cong Wittman (R-VA).
The former is dead, and the latter has not been caught stealing yet. (Unlike all the others..including (Rangel D-NY) who should go to jail, but will just be censured and allowed to resign and allowed to keep his ill-gotten gains.
Long Live Politcs.
So Wittman would stop with the stupid calls. I hate that crap. I also agree about the mailers. They go from the mailbox straight to the trash in my house. What a friggin waste no matter who is paying for it.
Doesn't the only lead that really counts is the one when all the ballots have been counted.
or is that gas? Blessed2 why you just email Rob & ask him about the mailers; or are you just blowing smoke and trying to impress us with your political acumen?
