LOW boating accident claims life of Bealeton man Date published: 7/27/2010

Injuries from a boating accident at Lake of the Woods have claimed the life of a Bealeton man. Jason Goodman, 33, was struck by a pontoon boat while in the water of the main lake at LOW during the Orange County subdivision's annual Independence Day celebration July 3. He suffered multiple injuries to his legs and feet and underwent surgery at Mary Washington Hospital. According to Game and Inland Fisheries Officer Nathan Bowling, Goodman was released from the hospital July 6, but apparently developed complications from his injuries and died in Fauquier County July 18. An official with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said yesterday that the cause of Goodman's death was blood clots in his lungs caused by the blunt-force trauma to his legs. According to reports taken by Game and Inland Fisheries officers, Goodman had been riding on a wave board pulled by a personal watercraft. He was in the water next to the craft, wearing a life vest, when he was struck by the pontoon boat's propeller, Bowling said. The boat was carrying 11 passengers who had paid for a ride around the lake. The Lake of the Woods Fire and Rescue Company sponsors the boat rides, parade, games and other Independence Day activities as an annual fundraising event. The boating accident and Goodman's death are being investigated by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office. Robin Knepper: 540/972-5701
This is why they shouldn't let old people drive on the lake.
They drive pontoon boats full of old people, and ignore the
water in front of them. SAME GOES FOR THOSE WHO
DRIVE TUBERS. They swerve, and only look at the
retarded kids behind them. I've had many close calls
because of damn old bats and negligent fathers puller kids
on a tube.
Sad story, seen it coming first hand. So sad. Ban tubing
and old farts. They can drink on land
There an untfathomable number of sides to every story.
There are literally hundreds of questions I would ask to get a clear picture of what happened here. As it is, it is a very murky story and the only clarity is the pain of the victim's family and the chain of events.
the bloodstream, causing blockage of blood vessels (pulmonary arteries) in the lung. Called pulmonary embolism, this can lead to severe difficulty in breathing and even death, depending on the degree of blockage
Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) refers to a blood clot embedded in one of the major deep veins of the lower legs, thighs, or pelvis. A clot blocks blood circulation through these veins, which carries blood from the lower body back to the heart. The blockage can cause pain, swelling, or warmth in the affected leg. Blood clots in the veins can cause inflammation (irritation) called thrombophlebitis. Severe complications of deep vein thrombosis occur when a clot breaks loose (or embolizes) and travels through the
Notice how Robin Knepper is the only one who reports on LOW and she once told a member at a board meeting that she doesn't stay for the Q&A because she would have to "report on both sides". In addition, she was observed getting her story on a board meeting "approved" before she left.....I thought there was always two sides to a story!
