Date published: 7/29/2010 Smash-mouth tactics are unseemly in Va. Krystal Ball owes an apology to the voters of the 1st Congressional District for insulting our intelligence with her most recent mailing. It featured a cute little girl with the words "Congressman Rob Wittman cares more about Wall Street than he does about her." What will her next mailing be? A picture of a puppy with the caption "Congressman Wittman will torture this puppy unless you vote for Krystal Ball"? Virginia's 1st Congressional District was once the home of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. This kind of cheap smash-mouth campaign tactic has no place here--even if it is unintentionally comical. Presidents Nixon, Reagan, Carter and Ford did not speak at a Jamboree - and GW Bush didn't attend in 2001 (must have been clearing brush or perusing his president's daily brief ) Didn't Obama have the Scouts to the White House two and a half weeks ago? - I remember that cute picture of that boy from Bowie.
To add to ConcernedOne's remarks...

Just got off the phone w/a friend on the ground at Ft AP Hill at the Jamboree. The prez was officially invited to the Jamboree LAST FEBRUARY (that's 2/09)!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yet The View got in the way???? His non-attendance speaks volumes, and the Scouts got the message LOUD and CLEAR. Whichever of the prez's political advisers in the Oval Office that's responsible for this bone-headed call should be canned.
yeah a republican like....

He WAS a Republican.During the Reagan Administration,
Webb served as the nation's first Assistant Secretary of
Defense for Reserve Affairs from 1984 to 1987. But, I
digress a bit. Yes, virtually EVERY Washington politician
from BOTH parties has to go along with their National
Committees or they'll lose financing and be replaced with an
obedient dog.
