Shanta Simone Kelly

Shanta Simone Kelly, 48, of Tappahannock departed this life Monday, July 26, 2010, in a Richmond hospital.

Shanta was employed as a communication supervisor with the Essex County Sheriff's Office. She also worked with the Essex County emergencies squad.

She is survived by her husband, James M. Kelly Jr.; her parents, Shirley and Arthur L. Bryant; her children, Tracelia C. "Tracy" Jeter, Tanesha R. "Nesha" Kelly, Martel D. Kelly, Lanetria W. "Tank" Kelly and Jervon M. "Jerry" Kelly, all of Tappahannock, Jovan M. "Joey" Kelly of Jacksonville, Fla., and KneAndra L. "KK" Kelly of Alexandria; one sister, Tokeenia W. Jeter of Atlantic City, N.J.; and three brothers, Quentin C. Bryant of Fredericksburg, Toray A. Bryant of Tappahannock, and Robert Q. Johnson of King and Queen.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Washington Funeral Home, 1404 Tappahannock Blvd., Tappahannock. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at First Baptist Church, corner of Marsh Street and Church Lane in Tappahannock, with the Rev. Vernon Keeve, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
