FROM STAFF REPORTS Yesterday's American Legion state tournament winner's bracket final between Stafford Post 290 and Lynchburg Post 16 featured several ties and lead changes before Lynchburg took the lead for good in the eighth, and then held on for an 8-7 victory. The Nationals' first loss of the season sends them to the loser's bracket final today at 10 a.m., where they'll face the winner of last night's late game between Chesapeake Post 280 and Richmond Post 361. Kyle Angelet led the Post 290 offense with four hits and Jake Black had two, while Matt Edwards added a bases-loaded double. "We seemed a little tired and flat tonight," Nationals coach Jerry Gernhard said. "We left two many runners on base. Now we have to get ready to play tomorrow." On Wednesday night, Angelet, Garrett Marin, Jacob Gernhard and Dustin Hunt combined for 12 hits, 12 runs and 10 RBIs in Stafford's 18-10 win over Danville Post 325. Marin was 4-for-6, including a home run and triple. Hunt was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer. Daniel King pitched 6 innings of relief to earn the victory.
