JM grad leads strings camp, concert tonight

Daniel Crook of Fredericksburg, a 2010 James Monroe High School graduate and violinist, will conduct a strings concert tonight at 7 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

The 18-year-old held a free strings camp this week for local students. He will attend West Virginia University on a music scholarship in the fall.

The camp's co-founder is Barbara Posey, who is a violin student and friend of Crook. Other counselors were Bill McCoy, the church's music director, and Crook's friend Kolton Wansel of Pennsylvania.

The 12- to 17-year-old students will perform three pieces during the free concert.
