Not Greek to me: We need frugal congressmen

I was amused by a recent letter ["Wittman? No way," July 9] that criticized Rep. Rob Wittman for his votes against government spending.

With America flirting with economic collapse as we suffocate under trillions of dollars of debt, this letter takes issue with Rep. Wittman for voting against bills that would spend money we do not have and put us more into debt.

The writer thinks voting to rein in federal spending is a bad thing. What planet is this person living on?

It is time for people to wake up to reality. The Congress is spending trillions of dollars more than it has in revenues.

The math is simple: We cannot keep doing this or we will collapse, and this implosion will make Greece's troubles seem like child's play.

Rep. Wittman is doing the right thing by holding the line on spending, and most of America is beginning to see the light. We cannot keep spending like some teenager with his first credit card, and Rep. Wittman gets this.

Those who have issues with his efforts to hold the line on spending either cannot do the math or refuse to acknowledge reality. The days of spend, spend, spend must end!
