Badly beaten man found in city
BY KEITH EPPS
A 32-year-old man was found badly beaten at a Fredericksburg apartment complex Monday.
He didn't know who had beaten him or how he ended up where he did, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
The Spotsylvania resident told police he had been hanging out with a friend at an apartment on Cowan Boulevard.
He said he had some drinks, then left early Monday.
Bledsoe said the man's memory is unclear after that, but he believes he was walking between Monticello Apartments and Eagle Village when he was attacked.
He didn't know how many attackers there were, but he told police he didn't think they used any weapons.
He didn't know how he ended up crumpled up in a hallway at nearby Stratford Place, where someone noticed him about 11:50 a.m. and called police.
The man's head was swollen and his eyes were so swollen that he couldn't see, Bledsoe said. He was bleeding from the mouth and had a gash on his head.
The victim was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. He was conscious when police arrived.
Anyone with information about the beating is asked to call city police at 373-3122.
