I will be neither silenced nor enslaved

Since 1984, I have been voting against someone rather than for them. I don't see that changing in the near term. I will continue voting against the liberals who seem set on the destruction of our American way of life.

I am fortunate in that I live in Spotsylvania County where we have a conservative Republican as our representative (Rob Wittman).

It's up to people like us to make a difference at a time when our country is more interested in "American Idol" than what our elected officials are doing in Washington or Richmond.

The "watchdog of democracy"--the press--has sold us out to the leftists in this country. The Internet, however, gives us a voice. Letters to the editor do the same.

I will not be silenced as long as we have a First Amendment, and I will not be enslaved so long as we have a Second Amendment. I am not a politician, but I will not entrust our nation to those who are without my input.

Next, let's look at taxes. I paid 33 percent in federal taxes alone last year. I am an average, middle-class American who works hard for my money. After adding property, personal property, state, gas, and even phone taxes, I am quite confident that I have given away 50 percent of my income to someone else.

Those who want to pay more taxes in January should send the IRS a check and they will gladly take it. My family and I are taxed enough already.

Where there is no accountability, there is only disaster.
