PUBLIC SCHOOLS Rockhill Elementary Luis Rovira and Sam Lichtman won first and second place, respectively, in their age groups in the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center's art contest, "America, a Land of Many Peoples." Their artwork was submitted by Ann Cobb, their fifth-grade teacher. Their artwork is on display at the museum. The following are new staff members: Reading Specialist, Daphne Dudek, fifth grade; Penny Jones, counselor; Barbara Vorndick, diagnostician; Maribeth Veal, psychologist; Becky McGuire, preschool teacher; paraprofessionals Debbie Delaney, Lori Montemayor, Alesha Napier, Colette Reid, Theresa Sampson and Dana Woolson; and Stacey Anderson, cafeteria hostess. The annual Evening Open House will be held Sept. 2, with last names, A-L at 5:30 p.m., kindergarten orientation at 5:45 p.m.; last names M-Z at 6:30 p.m. with kindergarten orientation at 6:45 p.m. Families can meet teachers, join the PTO and receive school calendars, purchase school supply packets and school tee-shirts, put money in lunch/breakfast accounts, and find out bus route information. All families are encouraged to attend. Class lists will be posted at 5:30 p.m. The PTO is selling school supply packets for the upcoming school year.
