TWO HELD IN THEFT TRY
Two charged with trying to steal tour trolley

Other than the June fire that destroyed one of its vehicles, Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg has had a busy summer.

"It's been good," said David Hurt, the general manager.

But the the tourist company could have done without the two passengers it had early yesterday.

They were discovered at 2:30 a.m. inside the tour bus that regularly parks by the Fredericksburg Visitor Center in the 600 block of Caroline Street.

An employee of the nearby Courtyard Marriott Hotel saw two men in the trolley--one in the driver's seat, shifting gears, and the other rummaging through the glove box, police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.

Police were called, and two men were stopped nearby.

While being questioned by an officer, one of the men even took a swig of liquor, Bledsoe said.

Both were taken into custody.

Joseph Jenni, 39, of Fredericksburg was charged with attempted grand larceny, vehicle tampering, possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication. Scott Underwood, 23, of Williamsburg was charged with attempted grand larceny, vehicle tampering, public intoxication, and drinking in public.

Hurt said the business will replace the wedding trolley that burned, "Gracie Gal."

And he's glad no damage was done by the overnight visitors to the trolley.

"That was definitely a first for us," he said.

wants to build a new courthouse also. Hmm, according to the local paper 99% of the crimes are driving under the influence of something that's a no no, fights, unpaid traffic violations and so forth. Maybe they should just set up checkpoints at the county line instead and make some money.

Right again.... (posted by DD , Aug. 28, 2010 6:59 am)    0 likes
Blk97F150! It is clear that some people here, specifically meanasasnake, are completely clueless and clearly enjoy handing their hard earned tax dollars to the city of Fredericksburg. I live in Spotsy where it is even worse. LE here look like the little people riding motorcycles in a circle in a parade here. Stack charges - nothing sticks and we have taken up alot of government time and money for nothing. "Shooting the drunks"?? Those are the ones that should not have conceal carry! Unbelieveable!

Btw, don't forget that Fredericks'hood is trying to build a new courthouse. Don't think for a second that someone isn't using the number of criminal charges that the court hears as a 'justification' to build it. The more charges... the better the 'need' for the new building.

Drunk in public (posted by Blk97F150 , Aug. 27, 2010 7:07 pm)    0 likes
All of these 'what if' senarios are nice... but are pointless. These guys were drunk in public... thats a generic term for 'acting like an idiot'. From the charges, it doesn't appear that they damaged the bus, just played on it. They weren't charged with vandalism, or destruction of property, etc. With the exception of the possession, the drunk in public pretty much covers it.

When they tamper w/ your car... (posted by commonsensefxbg , Aug. 27, 2010 8:36 am)    0 likes
you will want the book thrown at them. Why does a hardworking business not deserve the same justice as you if someone broke into your vehicle & rummaged for a hopefully hidden key. If caught in the act, you would tell the police that the drunken twits were forgiven? They are being charged w/ crimes they are found to have committed. If they had gotten the vehicle started they could have done a great amount of damage...maybe killed someone. Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Marriott for caring & calling!
