Florence Heflin Sullivan, 98, of Ferry Farm in Stafford County, passed away quietly and peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Woodmont Center.
Born and raised in Stafford County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Kennie Heflin.
She was a member of Ferry Farm Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class, The Women of Mission Union and the Golden Jubilee Group. She also cooked the Wednesday Night dinners at the church for 22 years, and loved every moment of it.
She retired, after 20 years of service, from Stafford Senior High School as the cafeteria manager.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Sullivan; a daughter, Hazel M. Sullivan; and son J. Garnett Sullivan.
She is survived by son Lynwood B. Sullivan and his wife, Sterling, of Stafford; a grandson, Stephen Todd Sullivan and his wife, Tracy, of Stafford; a granddaughter, Vicki S. Sowers and her husband, Jack, of Stafford; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Sullivan; and four great-grandsons, Camden and Cole Sowers, and Tanner and Tucker Sullivan.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at Ferry Farm Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Vaught and the Rev. Paige Young officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
