Richard Franklin Henshaw, 93, of Glen Allen departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry Henshaw and Rosa Alice Henshaw, and his brother, Alfred Henshaw.
He was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
He worked as a skilled mechanic during his career, and after retirement he spent his time running a flea market booth in Mechanicsville, enjoying the social life it brought him, well into his later years.
He is survived by his son, Richard Keith Henshaw of Glen Allen; his daughter, Debra Henshaw Lewis of Lakeside; their mother, Virginia Sinlock Henshaw of Lakeside; his sister, Helen Henshaw Massengill of Richmond; his grandsons, Thomas R. Lewis Jr. and Kenneth S. Lewis; and a number of nieces, nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Richmond, located at Monument Avenue and Boulevard, with a memorial service at 7 p.m.
Flowers are welcome, but if preferred, please feel free to make a donation to a favorite charity or cause in his memory.
