Arthur Lacey Jr.

Arthur Lacey Jr., 80, of Montross died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at his home.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at United Faith Christian Ministries, Stafford, with the Rev. Leonard B. Lacey officiating and A.L. Bennett & Son Funeral Home directing. A memorial service and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Temple Star Baptist Church in Vernon, Ala.

Arthur was born July 3, 1930, to the late Arthur Andrew Sr. & Anlo Hankins Lacey in the Crossville community of Vernon. He moved to Virginia in 1970 and was owner and operator of Arthur Lacey & Sons Trucking Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; five sisters; his youngest son, Ricky Vern; and three grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Florine Lacey of Montross; four sons, Melvin Lacey of Montross (Deborah of Millport, Ala.), Leonard (Renee) Lacey of Stafford County, Robert (Hazel) Lacey of Bowie, Md., and Maurice (Margaret) Lacey of King George County; three daughters, Janet Lacey of Montross, Abigail (Dave) Johnson of Doswell and Charlotte (Tony) Scott of Jacksonville, N.C.; one sister, Felestine Lacey Barnes of Compton, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Hackett of Kinsale and Mae Ruth Wells of Fayette, Ala.; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
