John E. "Jack" Rizer Jr., 62, of Fredericksburg passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Rizer was born in Washington, D.C., to the late John E. and Gertrude B. Rizer. He was a graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa. Mr. Rizer was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rappahannock Chapter NRHS, and RF&P Railroad Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Christine Flaherty Rizer; his sons, John Christopher Rizer and Patrick Kenneth Rizer, both of Fredericksburg; his brother-in-law, Patrick Flaherty and wife Joan; his two nephews, Lt. Col. Patrick Flaherty and Michael Flaherty; and his niece, Kathleen Flaherty.
A Mass of celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road NE, Washington, D.C. 20017-1554.
