Fight on school bus leads to charges

Two students at Stafford High School have been charged with assault and battery in connection with a fight on a school bus Tuesday morning.

A 16-year-old student was charged with two counts of assault and battery, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of carrying a knife on school property, which was the school bus, according to Bill Kennedy, spokesman for the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

A 14-year-old was charged with three counts of assault and battery and one count of disorderly conduct, Kennedy said.

The names of the students were not released because they are juveniles.

The fight occurred on Bus 141 at the Thomas Jefferson Townhouses and involved two factions, according to Kennedy.

Kennedy said the fight was finished by the time deputies arrived, and some students had already left the scene. He said a knife was found in the back of the bus, but students on the bus said no one displayed a knife during the incident.
