Halloween costume jab ends in beating

Police say a Stafford County man was charged with malicious wounding after he beat up a man early Sunday who made a comment about his Halloween costume.

The incident occurred about 1:15 a.m. at the Mainstreet Bar and Grill at 315 Garrisonville Road. Sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy said Deputy Walter O'Neal was in the parking lot when a woman told him someone in her group had been in an altercation. Witnesses said the 32-year-old victim was hit numerous times in the face. He was treated at a local hospital.

Daniel Vasselian, 25, was charged and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
