Sweet Frog coming to Eagle Village
Date published: 12/20/2011
It will be in the former Glass America space, which has direct frontage on U.S. 1. The storefront will be renovated, and plans call for an outdoor patio.
"We have long wanted to attract this type of business to Eagle Village due to student and faculty feedback that was collected in the early stages of this project," said Jeff Rountree, CEO of the UMW Foundation and president of Eagle Property Holdings LLC. "The frozen yogurt industry has exploded in the past few years with Sweet Frog, in particular, opening over 50 locations in just the past two years."
Raven Williams, senior sales and development manager for Sweet Frog, said the chain selected the Eagle Village location because of its accessibility and inviting atmosphere.
"At Sweet Frog, we want to be more than just a dessert place; we want to be a part of the community, and we were impressed with the community feel of Eagle Village," she said.
Locally, Sweet Frog has locations in Cosner's Corner in Massaponax and at 15323 Creativity Drive in Culpeper. The company expects to have 100 stores open by the spring of 2012 in 15 states as well as one in South Korea. There is a possibility that the company could open one in Carter's Crossing shopping center in Stafford County at some point, Williams said.
