James Andrew Banks, 81, of Spotsylvania County entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.

He is survived by five children, James Herndon, William "Ricky" Herndon (Beverly), Kayla Herndon, Ricky Banks and Karen Banks; five stepchildren, Brenda Humes, Christle Humes, Rita Johnson, Carolyn Rush and Craig Humes; one brother, Richard H. Banks Jr.; one sister, Connie Herndon (Bobby); one uncle, Arnold White; one aunt, Dorothy White; one aunt-in-law, Martha White; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 4189 Pilgrim Church Road, Locust Grove, with the Rev. Wayne Robinson officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
