James W. Pullen

James W. Pullen, 72, of Stafford County died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, while at home with his loving family at his bedside.

He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Blackburn, England. He attended Leeds University in Yorkshire, England, and received a law degree. In 1970, he was transferred in business to Montreal, Canada, where he worked for three years. In 1974, the family moved to Fredericksburg. He also attended Mary Washington College and received his Master of Business Administration degree in 1987. He held several jobs as a computer systems analyst and retired in 2002 from Spotsylvania County's Information Services Department.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret; daughter Claire (and Frank), son Martin (and Lydia) and daughter Wendy (and Edward); seven grandchildren, Ethan, Charlie, Patrick, Emily, Catherine and Jamie; and two brothers, Phillip and Arthur, in England. He also leaves behind three cousins, Bill, Kenneth and Robert Pullen; and other relatives and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Trinity Episcopal Church on College Avenue in Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, Jim's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Salvation Army and the Fredericksburg Food Bank.
