Chris Elliott's travel column really helped

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy Christopher Elliott's "Travel Troubleshooter" column in your Sunday paper.

I have followed with interest how he has resolved the problems of fellow travelers, and when I had a problem, I contacted him.

My husband and I were in Sierra Vista, Ariz., when he had a heart attack and was helicoptered to Tucson Medical Center. I went to Enterprise Rent-A-Car to rent a car to drive to Tucson and was told the only car they had would cost $180 a day to rent. Having no other choice, I rented it.

After returning to Virginia, I wrote Enterprise and told them how unhappy I was to be taken advantage of in a time of emergency, and requested a refund.

Both Chris Elliott and Enterprise emailed me the next day. Enterprise offered to change the rental price to $28.99 plus taxes and refund me the difference--$354.99.

I feel it was Chris Elliott's intervention that made the difference. Thank you for publishing his column.
