BUMPASS MAN, 21, KILLED IN I-95 CRASH

A Bumpass man was killed late Wednesday when his car smashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer on a shoulder of Interstate 95, state police said.

The crash occurred about four miles south of the Massaponax exit in the northbound lanes, according to State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler.

He said that Hunter Lane Forrester, 21, was driving a 1996 Nissan Altima north when it crashed into the rear of 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer stopped on the right side of the interstate. Forrester died at the scene, Tyler said.

The operator of the tractor-trailer was identified as Lonniell O. Smart Jr., 27, of Bainbridge, Ga. He was charged with improper stopping on a highway, Tyler said. The crash was investigated by Trooper C.A. Eaves.
