Eighth-grader Primavera Rivera Hernandez placed first in the 2012 Youth Promoting Tolerance Project Proposal Competition. This project is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Greater Washington Area.

Jacob Phillips and Emily Thompson have met the requirements to enter the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Seven students participated in the state FBLA competition recently. Meghan Hamannwright and MJ Dicello placed first in Computer Game and Simulation Programming and will travel to San Antonio in June for the national conference. Deana Hamlin placed third in Business Presentation.
In March, students participated in the National Latin Exam, during which students are tested on their knowledge of language, history, mythology, everyday Roman life and Latin phrases.
The following students received awards for their scores on the exam:
Latin I--Michael Smith and Demetrius Hollingsworth, magna cum laude; Caleb Reynolds and Melanie Rodriguez, cum laude
Latin II--Zachary Witalec and Laura Yang, cum laude
Latin III--Joseph Grant, Yousra Neberai and Tully Thompson, summa cum laude gold medal; Chris Bass, Nick Marshall and Lyndsay Jozsa, maxima cum laude silver medal; and Kate Hampton and David Guckian, cum laude
Latin IV--Andrew Lewis, magna cum laude; and Charles Cuaresma, cum laude.
