Sex offender facing additional felonies
A convicted violent sex offender faces three felony charges after police arrested him Tuesday in Fredericksburg.
State Police Sgt. Les Tyler said the department's sex-offender investigator unit began looking into Gary Anthony Biron after learning that he might have been in violation of his parole.
The investigation, which included state probation and parole officers and Fredericksburg police, ended with Biron's arrest Tuesday.
Police arrested the 22-year-old at his new residence, the Colonial Motel on Princess Anne Street.
Tyler said Biron failed to register within three days after moving, a requirement for registered violent sex offenders.
Biron also failed to reregister with the state police, which violent sex offenders have to do every three months, Tyler said.
The city man also was charged with violating his parole.
All of the charges are felonies.
Biron was convicted in 2006 of aggravated sexual battery and forcible sodomy for an offense that happened in 2003, according to Stafford County court records.
He was sentenced to a total of 25 years, all of which was suspended.
Biron is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
