Smaller cars would alleviate road crowding

Much of our traffic problem could be solved if we all drove smaller cars.

If a single-occupancy driver switched from a 25-foot-long pickup truck or SUV and instead drove a 14-foot-long small sedan, that would be an extra 10 feet of road space available during rush hour for other drivers.

Multiply this 10 extra feet by hundreds of drivers, and soon you'll see that suddenly a whole mile of road is revealed.

It doesn't make sense for a single driver to take up all that valuable road space in an SUV or pickup truck. I believe this is a contributor to the congestion we see around here.

If we all decided to drive smaller cars that took up less space on the road, we would have more space on the road to use.

It's common sense, and I think we all should consider this the next time we're stuck in traffic.
