Gertrude Steibl Leitch, 86, formerly of Fredericksburg, ascended to heaven on April 1, 2012.

Born in Kelheim, Germany, to Josef and Gertraud Steibl, Trudy grew up on the banks of the Danube River. She loved her home and family and often recalled the times she spent with her brothers, Erick, Hans and Sepp; and sister Marianne.

Trudy came to America and embarked on a new journey with her husband Richard Leitch Jr., who preceded her in death. They were blessed with one son, Richard Leitch III, whom she loved with all her heart and also preceded her in death.

Trudy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Leitch; and her grandchildren and their families, Chris and Michelle Leitch and their daughters, Mary and Maddie; Emily and Keith Cable and their daughter, Ella; Sara and David Sullivan and their son, Freeman; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Trudy was cremated at the CSV Crematory. There will be a gravesite service held at 11 a.m. May 12, at Zoan Baptist Church, Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association.
