Stafford man killed in rush-hour I-95 crash

A Stafford County man died Tuesday after a morning rush-hour crash on Interstate 95 in Dale City, according to Corinne Geller of the Virginia State Police.

Kevin L. Mullins was driving a northbound Econoline van that, according to state police, rear-ended a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had stopped in traffic near the Potomac Mills exit shortly before 8 a.m.

The pickup was knocked into a Kia Spectra that was also stopped in traffic.

Mullins, 36, died at the scene. According to state police, he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

State police did not have details on a cause but said the investigation continues.

The crash followed another fatal accident earlier Tuesday on I-95 in Northern Virginia.

At about 4:30 a.m., a southbound Econoline van ran off the interstate, hit a guardrail and overturned.

Police said one passenger was killed. Another eight passengers were taken to the hospital.

The driver, 29-year-old Job J. Diaz-Lemus, faces a reckless-driving charge.
