Ethel Grace Bruce Shook, 75, of Milford departed this life on Saturday, June 2, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, Otis S. Shook Jr.; two sons, Lafayette Scott Crabtree Jr. and Ralph Crabtree; daughters Eunice Key, Cindy Fields and Tammy Barlow; two stepchildren, Jerry Shook and Sharon Farmer; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frances and Bobby Bruce; and sisters Virginia Breedlove, Mae Brown, Evelyn Barlow and Dot Jarrell.

She was preceded in death by daughter Brenda Sue Crabtree; parents Homer and Laura Bruce; brothers Aubrey, Johnny, Frank, Leonard, Ellwood and Wesley Bruce; and sisters Betty Shook and Shirley Bailes.

Ethel loved to have her hands in the dirt--be it the garden or her beautiful flowers. Spending time with friends and relatives was a treasure to her, and she was known for her fun nature. She loved her church family and was a longtime member of Carmel Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Storke Funeral Home, 111 South Main St., Bowling Green, Va. 22427. Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Carmel Baptist Church, 24320 Jefferson Davis Highway, Ruther Glen, Va. 22546, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
