Movies still playing in the Fredericksburg area
HH "THE FIVE-YEAR
HHH "THE HUNGER GAMES" (PG-13) Those who have read the book will enjoy this film more than those who have not. The film adequately tracks the action in the popular young-adult novel, but it helps to know the back story to appreciate what's going on. Not for youngsters. Rated PG-13 for intense violent thematic material and disturbing images--all involving teens. 142 min. [RF]
HH "THE LUCKY ONE" (PG-13) Former teen heartthrob Zac Efron in a lead role will keep people from taking this too seriously, though solid female leads will help this Nicholas Sparks tale make a connection for some. Rated PG-13 for some sexuality, violence. 101 min. [RF]
HH "MEN IN BLACK III" (PG-13) Though a newcomer to the series--Josh Brolin--adds some energy, veteran MIBs Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith seem a bit bored with a story that resorts to time travel to introduce Brolin as a young Agent K. Still, it has some fun special effects moments. Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence, brief suggestive content. 104 min. [MC, RA, RF]
HH "MIRROR MIRROR" (PG) Without Julia Roberts and the colorful look of this latest Snow White tale, it wouldn't be worth a ticket. But it has both, which makes the childlike romp through the fairy tale a bit of interesting whimsy. Rated PG for some fantasy action and mild rude humor 106 min. [RF]
HH "WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING" (PG-13) More couples than you'll want to follow get ready for parenthood, with only Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks doing it interestingly. The worst: Jennifer Lopez whining and Cameron Diaz going over the top as a TV fitness guru. Chris Rock and his "dudes' group" are funny, but just barely there. Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content, thematic elements, language. 110 min. [MC, PV]
