A man and a woman told Spotsylvania County deputies that they were robbed in their Econo Lodge motel room near Four-Mile Fork Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the couple answered a knock on their door and were accosted, said Sheriff's Capt. Mike Harvey. The couple told deputies that a heavy-set man armed with a handgun and a thin woman entered their room.

The man ordered the man to the floor, kicked him in the side and demanded money, Harvey said. The assailants took cash and fled in a white SUV.

The man was described as black, about 6-feet tall and 300 pounds. He was wearing a blue and white shirt, jeans and red and white shoes. The woman was reportedly wearing a scarf on her head.
