Mohrs celebrate 50th anniversary

Second Lt. Donnell Mohr and Nelda Sue Perkins were married 50 years ago, on June 16, 1962, in St. Matthews Methodist Church in St. Matthews (Louisville), Ky. Nelda's father, the Rev. Dr. R.T. Perkins, presided.

Due to Don's military and federal government career, the couple has relocated many times, residing in Kentucky, Ohio, West Germany, New York, South Dakota, Colorado and Virginia. During Don's tour in Vietnam, Nelda received her Master of Arts in library science and served as a children's librarian, reference librarian, film librarian, branch library manager and library director. She retired after serving as branch manager of John Porter Library, CRRL, for 15 years. Don retired as director of memorial programs for the National Cemetery Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs. They have two daughters and one grandson, all of whom live in the Fredericksburg area.

Don and Nelda, both Rotarians, celebrated their golden anniversary with a party for the Stafford Rotary Club at their home. A fall Canadian cruise is planned.
