Joseph "Big Joe" Michal, 71, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.

He was born in West Orange, N.J., and then called Stafford County his home.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Virginia "Ginny" Massey Michal. He is survived by son Gregory Michal of Georgia; brother Robert Michal of New Hampshire; five stepchildren, Patricia D. Johnson, Pamela L. Davis, Robert L. Davis, Janice L. Magor and Richard J. Davis; and their children and grandchildren.

Mr. Michal's family will receive family and friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the home of John and Janice Magor, 57 Misty Lane, Stafford. Robert Massey, brother of Mary, will conduct a service at 1 p.m.
